Days two and three of our second annual Design Connections event were jam-packed with presentations, panels, and one- on-one meetings—plus an unexpected chance to hang out and paint pictures of palm trees after dinner! (Consider it an
experiment in biophilia.) Some stand-out takeaways include:
w Randy Fiser’s panel “From the Hospital to the Home,” with two
designers we’ll expect to be hearing much more from in the future:
ICRAVE’s Nick Domitrovich and Gensler’s Jamie Huffcut.
w Designtex Director of Sustainability and Material Exploration
Deidre Hoguet’s introduction to the company’s pilot program with
Material IQ, which we’ll look forward to sharing more news about
as their work progresses.
w Infection control, infection control, infection control! Whether it
was questioning the materials we thought we know, finding new
ways to get hospitals on board for post-occupancy evaluation
(while overcoming their concerns about liability), or comparing
standards in the U.S. and Canada, the topic kept rearing its
head—and we’ll keep following it, too.
Plus, turn the page to get a full rundown on insights from Jane Rohde,
who led the discussion following two breakout groups aimed at identifying
needs, opportunities, and synergies across the continuum of care.
