The New Way to Love Laminates
Prism TFL, the Sustainable Wood Alternative for Commercial Interiors
It’s a rare luxury to be able to specify furniture and millwork with sculpted surfaces. Carved wood, lacquered panels,
shaped solid surface, and cast glass are all beautiful, but present
several challenges—durability, weight, and of course, cost.
Thankfully, there’s an excellent alternative to these materials.
3D laminated surfaces from RENOLIT are capable of
seamless surfaces for ease of cleaning, softer edges
for safety and durability, organic or geometric sculpted
surfaces, interior cutouts for wire management, and
custom shapes just for the sake of great design.
3DL panels are a sandwich with three basic
w A thermoplastic overlay that carries the design
and texture, and seamlessly covers five of six
sides of a panel
w An MDF core coated with a heat-activated
w A backer surface, usually TFL in a matching
color or pattern
They are created by heating the surface to make it
pliable and forming it onto the details carved into an
MDF core. The result is a wrinkle-free, seamless and
between the surface and
every detail of the panel.
Like LVT flooring,
most 3DL surfaces are
PVC. Delivering unparalleled flexibility and durability, PVC is one of our
most versatile and stable
polymers, used in water pipes, IV bags, and thousands of
other everyday products.
Advantages for commercial designers include:
w No delamination
w High impact (no cracking) and wear resistance
w Class A fire rating
w Better-than-carbon-neutral core
w Dozens of designs and textures available
w Design matching programs with other materials

RENOLIT 3D Surfaces for
Furniture and Interiors
It’s no wonder wood is still the go-to look for most of our interior and furniture surfaces. Nothing else has the warmth, beauty
and character of a fine or exotic woodgrain.
Unfortunately natural wood is also fragile, difficult to maintain,
inconsistent in color and character, impossible to match when it
needs replacing, and its color changes over time.
You’ve seen the abuse solid wood and veneers take in
high-use applications like elevator cabs and hotel rooms. Once
damaged, these surfaces degrade the look of the overall space.
(Such a waste of wood should be a crime!)
This is where Prism TFL shines.
Prism TFL is available in more than 90 different designs, with a
range of texture options.
Prism’s new Taction Oak texture represents the latest in EiR
(embossed-in-register) technology, in which every texture detail
is perfectly aligned with the printed woodgrain design for
Exact matching designs are available for edge treatments, as
well as complementary surfaces like HPL and 3DL.
TFL decorative panels have been a staple for vertical and work
surfaces in European commercial furniture and interiors for
years, especially in offices, hotels and retail spaces.
Like HPL, Prism TFL has very high scratch and wear resistance
and is available in dozens of realistic woodgrain designs and textures.
Unlike HPL, the high-definition printed layer is bonded directly to
a standard, fire-rated, or moisture-resistant composite wood core,
creating a decorative panel that will never delaminate.
Prism cores are all better-than-carbon-neutral wood composites, and
our long-lasting surfaces replace fine and
rare wood species at a fraction of the cost.
