Following the 2017 US Open, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) began to prepare for its
50th anniversary, which kicked off in
August of this year.
The preparations included
an update of the USTA’s players
entrance and gardens, training rooms
and three cafes made available for
players and their entourage.
However, if you were watching
the matches, you may have noticed a
couple of on-court updates.
Michael Graves Architecture &
Design (MGA&D) was tapped by the
USTA to redesign the umpire booths,
players’ benches and on-court amenities such as towel tubs.
Collaborating with Landscape
Forms, MGA&D first watched the
ways in which both the umpires and
players used the on-court furniture.
